Life is Golden

My dad, my best friend and I went to visit Brother Holmes last night - an 83 year old man in our ward. He's a very very special person. He's so wise, humble and spiritual. His testimony of the gospel is so powerful. It's difficult for him to walk, see and hear but when he went to the stand to bear his testimony on Sunday, his eyes were practically popping out of their sockets and voice was probably the loudest i've ever heard it be. He's so passionate about the church it's inspiring.
He told us about being in WWII and the Vietnam War. He said while other's were lining up to protest he was voluntarily lining up to battle. He married his first wife when he was 18, she was 16. She passed away from cancer after 27 years of marriage. A few years later he re married to a woman who passed away due to arthritis issues. All of his brothers and sister (i think he said there were 7) have passed away except one brother. As a calling to organize church dances for his stake when he was younger, he worked beside President Eyring. For the music he'd put together an orchestra to perform during the dances. Which i thought was pretty incredible.

At one point everyone was talking, besides Brother Holmes and myself, and Brother Holmes started talking to me a little bit quieter. He said  i was very special, and that he could see how oberservant, controlled and aware of everything around me i am, in a way not many people are. He told me i was very special and very beautiful and kind and that i'd go very far in life. .. Some other things i can't remember but i guess it's not important. That alone was probably one of the kindest things anyone has ever said to me. However, it's not so much what he said as the fact that it was him who said it. Someone so wise, and spiritual. Someone who worked beside President Eyring. Someone who's been around the world, been to so many places, met so many people. The fact that he's even taken the time to analyze me is a blessing in itself. It's funny how you try and help someone, brighten their day and they bless yours in what seems to be 10x more.
The Lord has an interesting way of placing angels in my path. In everyone's paths.
I need to do things like this more often.
